Ghost fishing

Ghost fishing is a term that describes what happens when derelict fishing gear ‘continues to fish’. In the Dutch North Sea, this is a major problem, as a large number of nets are lost on the many wrecks in this shallow sea.Peter was co-author on a great book about this subject, that was printed for the second time after two months. The project Duik de Noordzee Schoon got a lot of attention in the Dutch and Belgian media.Peter is a member of the board of the newly formed Ghost Fishing Foundation (www.ghostfishing.org).Every diver who wants to assist in cleaning wrecks and removing nets, has to do a ‘North Sea Survival Training’ before participating in clean-up dives.
